Ace Computer Training
COURSE TITLE: PowerPoint Essential Skills
LOCATIONS: Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch
Pitched firmly at PowerPoint 2013 (and we hope more recent versions) PowerPoint Essential Skills is one of two training courses offered by Ace Computer Training in four locations.
The course outline specifies an introduction to the various presentation options and output formats of PowerPoint and how to select the right view mode to accomplish that.
Working with text, designs, backgrounds and adding graphics are also a part of the course outline. We must assume that a tour of the interface, tools and menus is a part of that process. The final topic mentions creating email, print or ‘electronic’ versions of your presentation. It seems you’ll have to attend the second course offered to gain mastery of anything other than the most basic applications. There is also no mention of after training tech support, be sure to ask if you think you’ll need it.
Ardito Corporate Training
COURSE TITLE: PowerPoint Introduction
Hamilton’s Ardito Corporate Training offers two levels of PowerPoint training, the course being described here is the ‘introduction’ level and is for attendees with no previous experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, but a basic understanding of Windows. If you’re reading this online, you have enough skills to attend.
This one day course aims to get you opening and running a presentation, without crashing the computer, create a presentation from scratch and insert slides, format and manipulate your text, insert graphics, manage all the slides together and finally present a slideshow.
Also covered are the important essentials of selecting the correct file formats and printing notes from your presentation.
There is no mention of any resulting qualifications from this course, or any support after your training.

So, if you’ve never used PowerPoint before, this is the right level of training for you.
The course begins with the standard tour of PowerPoints major points of interest, from the common tools to menus you’ll be spending the most time in. From there it’s on to creating a basic presentation and using the right tools to organise, edit and refine your text and images.
Producing printed notes, figuring out the right resolutions and formats for sharing and displaying your presentation is all included.
There is no mention of any after course care or tech support, but if you’re collecting those CPD points you can add 6 hours to your collection.
COURSE TITLE: Microsoft PowerPoint

The training uses hands on exercises but you are welcome to bring your own work or materials to suite the sort of presentations you would like to be able to make. Beyond the mastery of the essential tools, and the discovery of which obscure menu Microsoft chose to hide them in, you’ll learn to format a project correctly, format text and paragraphs and import your own graphics. Animation and transitions are also dealt with.
There is no mention of any after course care.

The Knowledge Academy
COURSE TITLE: Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 Introduction
LOCATIONS: Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch, Napier, Dunedin, Wellington
The Knowledge Academy offers a very large number of courses in an amazing array of ‘luxury’ locations – hotels in various cities. Often the pages of their website are filled with keyword spam regarding the cities and not the actual courses. In point of fact, the PowerPoint Introduction course has no course outline and the same fill in the blanks webpage as most of their other courses. Some courses do have actual details, but this is not one of them.
The prices are more than 5 times what you can get a good one day course in Auckland for, so we wonder about the ‘guaranteed lowest price in the industry’ verbiage. We are entirely certain that if you push that Book Now button somewhere someone will manufacture a course and duly set you up for a training course led by someone certified. Be sure to enquire about a money back guarantee along with your ‘best price.’
